About the event
Signs of Safety, The Safety Planning Intensive
Professor Andrew Turnell
Signs of Safety is most well-known for its range of practice methods for working with parents, children and their networks, including:
• Harm and Risk Analysis
• My Three Houses
• Safety Planning
• Mapping
• Words and Pictures Explanations
• Safety-organised Questioning
• Middle Column Work
• Network Finding and Involvement
To use the practice methods well and to use them in an integrated way that involves the family, network and children and builds safety, success, wellbeing and belonging requires continuous learning.
Signs of Safety also provides organisations, their practitioners, supervisors, managers and leaders with learning methods so frontline staff can continually strengthen their understanding, skills and capacity to use the practice methods in the complex range of family situations they must work with.
This workshop will focus on five key practice methods one on each day, using a new case from a workshop participant to teach the practice method alongside live demonstration of group supervision learning method as the group applies the practice method to the day's case. In this way, the application of the practice methods to a range of cases will be explored, while participants also learn to use the group supervision and appreciative inquiry learning methods with each of the different practice methods as the means to drive their learning.
